Bicycling to the DMV
I ran a couple of errands today, one on the way to work, and one on the way home. My wife is in California for her nephew's wedding all week. She left her car here. I'm so used to getting around by bicycle it hasn't even crossed my mind I could use her car if I needed to. I'm still running errands by bicycle. In our relationship I keep track of our household budget and pay all the bills. This includes the car registration once a year. I forgot about it and realized her plates expire tomorrow. So on the way home I rode my bicycle by the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) to pay for her license plate renewal. Seemed strange to me to be pulling up on a bike to get license plate tabs.
I can cross off another short term goal I had rattling around in my head. I passed 1,000 miles for the month today. It doesn't even feel like a 1,000 mile month because the last week I've been taking it easy. I poured on the miles early in the month and cruised to the mark fairly easy in the second half. It's a little break before starting a new goal of back to back 1,000 mile months. I hadn't ridden a 1,000 mile month since last November when I was also building up for the Arrowhead 135 in February.
Monday: 31 mi
Tuesday: 35 mi
October: 1,014 mi
2007: 6,541 mi

Congrats on the milestone! The only time I ever hit that mark is because I had a 400-mile weekend once. Very impressive.
Damn, and I crossed the 2000 milestone for the year! Good for you.
You're inspiring me to ride more. Keep up the blog & keep riding.
Wow, and I thought my 400-mile October was pretty good!
Whooops... you just reminded me to go renew my license! :-) Unfortunately there are days that I actually need to drive, and I'd be in trouble if I forgot!
...Oh, and of course I'll be sure to show up on my bike. :-)
