Good day to commute by bicycle
Today I must have seen as many as 20 deer during my rides. The ones in town have little fear of humans. They just stand around looking at you as you ride by. I had a more exciting wildlife spotting this morning. On my ride in I was riding along Skyline and saw what I thought was a big cat sitting in the middle of the road. As I approached it ran off to the side of the road and into a culvert. I instantly recognized it as a Pine Marten. It's the fourth one I've seen over the years in this area. Commuting in Duluth I've seen martens, red foxes, porcupines, skunks, deer, bald eagles, and one black bear. And I live in the city, not in out lying areas.
This weekend I went out for the ride on Saturday. Sunday I felt like the legs needed a rest day. I did get in two miles riding an errand on the Blue Truck (Xtracycle). The legs felt better today because of the time off. I'll keep at it. I'm still worried about another cold virus. Two co-workers were coughing and blowing their noses all over the place today. I spent the day repeatedly washing my hands. This strong mid-western work ethic is puzzling. These people, with plenty of sick time built up, come to work miserable spreading their germs because they would feel guilty for calling in sick. Yet they don't feel guilty at all about passing this cold to other people. If you're sick, stay home. Nobody wants your cold!!

I'll second that one! First frost of the fall down here (Iowa).
Tim.
Sick days are for vacation time, see Doug, all this time you've had it all wrong! Go to work and be about 10% productive when sick. When you feel fine and it's nice, take your sick days and do your double century (too bad you're quite recognizable on your bike though)
Today I seen an injured rabbit, it must have taken a fall off of the bridge by the end of the lakewalk. While I was watching it lying there, breathing but unable to move :o( I seen a huge Bald Eagle fly about 10 feet from the both of us. Had I been a bit further away I think it would have taken the rabbit.
I'm all about staying home when I'm sick, and my employer is all for it as well. I can work remotely and often do when I'm feeling less than 100%, but not everybody has that luxury or an employer that won't find someone who doesn't use sick days for being sick.
You live in a very pretty area.
I followed your link. Those Pine Martens are pretty cute.
