Breaking out the summer bikes

I have several bikes I don't ride in the winter. My Surly Long Haul Trucker is one of those. I have the dedicated winter commuter bike that sees most of the my winter street riding. My LHT I use for some three season commuting and any bike camping I do. However I haven't ridden it at all since mid-August of last year. Unfortunately I didn't get out on any late summer or fall camping trips. And I completely stopped commuting on it because I was so into my belt drive commuter bike.
Today with some bright sunshine, temps around freezing, and dry roads, I decided there was no reason to ride studded tires on clear roadways. Usually this time of year, with a day like today, the roads would be a sloppy mess. But with our lack of winter, the roads are relatively clean and ice free right now.
It was very pleasant riding without the "sizzlin' bacon" sound of studded tires on dry pavement. The bike seemed to glide along quietly and effortlessly. And with all the mild weather, I already have 305 miles ridden in 2012. I'd much rather be out on my Pugsley on a snowmobile trail. Perhaps I'll still get what I wish for yet.

Pretty, but you can't fool me. I see the ice in the water. Not summer.
I hope you get some snow soon.
You have a great quiver of bikes :-)
I was tempted to just take my studded tires off, but we finally received just enough snow to ice things up. Plus, the removal of studded tires has become a start of Spring ritual.
Oh baby, don't you fret, I'm sending our frigid temps your way. Brrrr, -8F this morning in VT. Warmed up to 20F now - no biking for this girl - I'm going skiing in my backyard.
Nice LHT, a classic touring beauty.
Doug, have you list any studs off of your marathon winters?
Nate
I sure hope you get a monstrous snowstorm at some point. This "summer bike" thing is sort of off, if you understand me.
@Nate
Yeah I have. I lost 5 or 6 on the break-in ride before the studs were fully seated in the tire. I haven't lost any others since with over a 1,000 miles on the tires.
I liked the spray paint door that was in the back ground, but scence been painted over.
