Odd, very odd.

No snow January
It's odd that it's the middle of January and we don't have any snow.

I kept hearing on the news today about winter hitting the Midwest. That's a very general statement and the Midwest is very large. Here in the Upper Midwest we didn't get any of the snow that the Midwest was reported to be getting. However, we did get the cold. Today's commute temperatures were 1F/-17C degrees in the morning and 12F/-11C degrees in the afternoon. That's about normal for this date. Without the gusty winds of the last couple of days it felt pretty mild. So I took the long way home.

I hear the southshore is getting hammered with snow - wishing we could get in on the lake effect snow!

Today felt quite comfortable due to the lack of wind.

Planning to head out to the snowmobile trails tomorrow to see how icy they are (hoping not very). Have you been riding them at all since the most recent thaw/freeze cycle?

No, I was thinking about trying them this weekend. But I'm expecting quite a few icy spots.

So am I. Screws are installed in my shoes. Hoping the descents and climbs aren't too icy!

Maybe I will see you out there on the pugsley.

We're supposed to get snow here in Portland, Ore. on Sunday! Are we going to beat you, Duluth?

We got a little bit of snow here on the VA\TN border, maybe a couple inches...but it quickly melted away (despite the sub-freezing temps) as soon as the sun came out for a while...while I don't want a repeat of '09 (where we lived out in the country and lost all utilities for over 2 weeks due to heavy wet snow),I sure wouldn't mind 6-8" (what we'd normally get),LOL!
